    Dr. Aaron Putnam is the George H. Denton Assistant Professor at the School of Earth and Climate Sciences and the Climate Change Institute at the University of Maine. He received his B.S.from Bates College and Ph.D. from the University of Maine. He researches how interactions among Earth’s surface, atmosphere, cryosphere, and oceans produce glacial cycles and abrupt climate change.He has studied regional climate all over the world, including the Mongolia Altai, Tien Shan, and Himalaya mountain ranges, the Rocky Mountains and Sierra Nevada of North America, the Swiss Alps, the Southern Alps of New Zealand, and the Andes of South America. He is currently working on a project reconstructing the past climate in interior Asia. Dr. Putnam lives in Orono, Maine with his wife Dr. Katherine Allen.
